The search for a fisherman who has been missing at sea off the west Cork coast since early this morning has been called off for the night.
The man, a Egyptian in his 30s, fell overboard the Irish fishing boat, the Janireh, 11 miles southwest of the Fastnet Lighthouse at around 2am.
The Navy's LE Emer, RNLI lifeboats from Baltimore and Castletownbere and a number of local fishing boats as well as the Coast Guard Helicopter are assisting in the search.
Navy Lt Commander Terry Ward said sea conditions had been good overnight and visibility was clear.
"While we continue to search we remain hopeful," he said. "But obviously as time goes on hopes will begin to fade."
