Five held after man shot in Co Tipperary

Five men were arrested today in connection with violence in which one man was shot and another stabbed in Co Tipperary

Five men were arrested today in connection with violence in which one man was shot and another stabbed in Co Tipperary. The two injured men were taken to separate hospitals with injuries recieved during the assaults at Glen Court in Emly.

One man was stabbed in the back while the other was shot in the leg at around 3.30pm.

The injuries to both are not believed to be life-threatening. Investigating gardai later stopped a car on Tipperary Road in Ballysimon, Limerick city.

Five men travelling in the car, all aged in their 20s, were arrested and taken to Tipperary town, Cahir, Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda stations.

They are being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. Gardaí at Tipperary town have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
