Danish and Swedish police said today they had arrested five people, including three Swedish citizens, on suspicion of planning an attack at a building in Copenhagen where major media are located.
Danish security police in a statement said the alleged attackers were planning to enter the building where the daily Jyllands-Posten has its offices and wanted to "kill as many as possible of those around".
The daily published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad in 2005 that many Muslims found offensive, provoking protests across the Muslim world.
Swedish security police gave no details but said a "serious terror crime" had been thwarted through cooperation between Danish and Swedish police.
Two weeks ago a man blew himself up in Stockholm as police said he was preparing to set off bombs targeting civilians -- possibly at a train station or a department store.
