Gardaí investigating a shooting in Co Tipperary yesterday afternoon are still questioning five people in connection with the incident.
A man in his 20's suffered a gunshot wound to his leg at 3.30pm yesterday at Glen Court, Emly, Co Tipperary.
A second man suffered a stab wound to his back during the course of the same incident which gardai believe may be linked to a falling out between members of the Keane criminal gang based in Limerick city.
It's understood that members of the gang travelled to Co Tipperary to target one individual when retaliation occurred.
Five people aged in their late teens and early 20's were arrested at around 5pm on the Ballysimon Road on the outskirts of Limerick city.
One of those arrested has close links to the family of murdered Limerick crime figure Kieran Keane.
He was being detained for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against theState Act at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick city.
A 20-year-old youth from Limerick city and also connected to the same criminal gang was being held at Roxboro Garda Station.
Three other men arrested as part of the same operation were taken to garda stations in Tipperary town and Clonmel.
Follow up searches were underway last night by gardai investigating the shooting in Emly, which is located on the border of Limerick and County Tipperary.
A spokesman for the HSE confirmed that the gunshot victim was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where his conditions was described as stable.
The second victim who suffered a stab wound to his back was taken to South Tipperary hospital where his injury was described as not life threatening.
Meanwhile, a second man was arrested in Limerick city yesterday following the discovery of a Glock Pistol on Sunday night.
The weapon and a small amount of ammunition was found at the back of a house near the village of Clonlara in Co Clare which is located on the outskirts of Limerick city.
Members of the armed Regional Support Unit and gardai from Mayorstone Garda Station in Limerick were involved in the operation and a 18-year-old youth was arrested.
A garda spokesman confirmed that the teenager was still in custody last night and that a second man in his 20's was arrested on the north side of Limerick city yesterday morning as part of the same inquiry.
Both men were being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act which enables gardai to hold them for a maximum of 72 hours.
