Five people were wounded in Turkey today when a bomb exploded in an Istanbul suburb.

Five people were wounded in Turkey today when a bomb exploded in an Istanbul suburb.

Among those hurt was a State Security Court prosecutor and two policemen.

The remote-controlled bomb was set off just as a bus carrying several prosecutors passed by on its way to court, officials said.

The blast smashed the windows of two police cars escorting the bus and two other cars. Most of those hurt were treated for glass cuts.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack.

The prosecutors were attached to the State Security Courts which have beeninvolved in a crackdown on outlawed radical left wing, Kurdish and Islamicgroups. The banned groups have carried out bombings in the Istanbul area in thepast.
