Five men have appeared in court in Dublin in connection with the seizure of cocaine with an estimated value of up to €500,000.
All five men - two from Ireland, one from Liverpool and two from Manchester - were remanded in custody by Dublin District Court to appear again next Thursday.
Two of the defendants made no application for bail and were remanded in custody. The three others were remanded in custody with consent to bail. The men were arrested during a Garda swoop on a truck and a car in the Lusk area of north Dublin on Thursday afternoon.
A Garda spokesman said eight kilos of cocaine and a large quantity of cash in euros and Sterling were recovered.
The operation was led by detectives from the Garda National Drug Unit and supported by local gardaí from Balbriggan and members of the Garda Dog Unit.
