Emma Wall (18), Rathsallagh Park, Shankill, Co Dublin, died following a two-car collision in Ballybrack, Co Dublin. The accident happened shortly before 12.30am yesterday on the Church Road.

Ms Wall was one of five people travelling in the car. There was just the driver in the other vehicle. She was removed to Loughlinstown Hospital and died later yesterday morning.

In Co Clare, Maura Daffy (54) from Ruan died yesterday morning of injuries she sustained in a collision between her car and a mini-bus. The accident happened at about 4.20pm on Saturday at Clarecastle, on the main Limerick to Ennis Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and cut Ms Daffy free from the vehicle. She was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Ennis where she died.

It is understood she lived in Dublin and was on her way home to visit family for the weekend. The driver of the mini-bus, which was not carrying passengers, sustained minor injuries.

On Saturday night two men were killed in Co Roscommon when a van and car collided. Bernard Feeney (34), Kilcolman, Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Darragh Sharkey (20), Teevnacreavy, Tibohine, Co Roscommon, the driver of the car, was removed to Roscommon County Hospital where he later died.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, chef Robbie Millar (38) died following an road accident in Co Down, yesterday morning. Mr Millar died when his Maserati sports car was involved in an accident near the Craigantlet crossroads in Co Down at 3am. No other vehicle was involved.

In Co Wicklow yesterday, eight people were taken to hospital after a three-car crash near Woodenbridge in Co Wicklow. One car was carrying an elderly couple and their four grandchildren. Two adults were in each of the other two cars involved in the collision on the Arklow-Avoca road.

All 10 occupants were injured but two people did not require hospital treatment, gardaí said.

There were major traffic disruptions in the area.
