Five people, including a 25-year-old woman, who were questioned after a failed ram-raid attempt on a credit union in a south Dublin suburb have been released without charge.
Garda experts have examined two vehicles used in Friday night¿s robbery bid in Main Street, Rathfarnham.
Just after the credit union closed at around 5.00pm, raiders rammed a 4x4 vehicle into the front door of the building.
They fled when they failed to get in.
A vehicle was found abandoned a short distance away and two men were arrested nearby.
A Garda spokesman said they were investigating whether shots were fired during the arrests. It was reported that members of the Organised Crime Unit fired a number of warning shots.
Two other men, aged 36 and 27, were arrested in the Crumlin area a little later and the woman some hours afterwards.
All were held under the Offences Against the State Act at Rathfarnham, Tallaght, Crumlin, Terenure and Rathmines Garda stations. They were released without charge late last night.
No money was taken during the attempted raid and there were no reports of any injuries during the incident or arrests.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
