Michael Flatley said yesterday he was considering hanging up his dancing shoes to become a boxer. As he prepared for his final show the 40-year-old, whose feet are thought to be insured for £25 million, said he was considering future career possibilities but confirmed he had been offered a lot of money to show off his talent in the ring.
Mr Flatley, who has made an estimated £60 million fortune, gives his final performance as Lord of the Dance in a one-off spectacular in London's Hyde Park tonight.
"I feel very sad but I am delighted that for the first time I have got such a big stage to fly across. That's very exciting but I will be very sad when it's all over.
"I will wake up on Sunday morning and look at a whole host of different ideas. Boxing is a possibility and I have been offered a lot of money."
He said Hyde Park was an appropriate place to end the dancing show.
"It's the classiest venue I could find. This show is a dream come true. Just look at all these beautiful girls dancing with me. I am the luckiest guy in the world."
The dancer is reported to have been offered £35 million to become a boxer and is said to have had talks with London promoter Barry Hearn about entering the professional sport.
The Irish-American was a talented boxer as a youth growing up in Chicago.
Tomorrow night's special Royal Parks event will see 84 dancers performing to an audience of 25,000 at the historic Route of Kings site in Hyde Park.
