Fleetwood Mac will play the O2 in Dublin in October as part of their greatest hits tour, it has been announced.
The band are best known for their 1977 album Rumours which is one of the biggest selling records in history.
Four of the five musicians who made that record, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham, are still with the band. The only absentee is Christine McVie who has retired.
The band will play the O2 on October 24th as part of their Unleashed 2009 tour which will coincide with a greatest hits release along with a re-release of Rumours.
Tickets, priced from from €86.25, go on sale on Friday, June 12th.
Former Oxegen headliners Muse, who have a spectacular light show and have gained a reputation for being one of the best live bands in the world, will play the venue on November 6th. They were the first group to play the new Wembley Stadium.
Beyonce, who has had six sold-out shows in Ireland already this year, will play two more before the end of this year.
She is appearing at the O2 on November 22nd and the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on November 24th.
The Minster for Energy Eamon Ryan has endorsed a competition to promote Oxegen as a green festival.
Fans have been asked to create a video of themselves through the ‘Rock the Environment’ competition in which they are encouraged to promote the festival’s green ethos and educate fans about how they can go green.
They can upload a sketch which should be no more than three minutes in length to the Oxegen Muzu TV channel. The winning entries will be shown in the new green Ecogen area.
Mr Ryan praised the festival as being “sustainable, green and fun” and said he was looking forward to presenting the winners with their prize.
Also announced today for the Oxegen music festival in Punchestown Racecourse between July 10th and 12th is the line-up for the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) New Sounds Stage.
It will feature headline performances from David Kitt, Director, Villagers and Irish punk-folk act Blood or Whiskey.
On Sunday, the stage will feature Wintersleep, winner of the Juno Award for ‘Best New Band’ in Canada, Scotland’s Broken Record and Concerto for Constantine, the new band of former JJ72 front man Mark Greaney.
