The Government Publications Office sold out 1,000 copies of the interim report from the Flood Tribunal by early afternoon as demand for the narrative remained undimmed.
The office sold 500 copies before lunch and 500 more held in reserve sold-out immediately after lunch.
Staff at the office said demand for the report had surpassed all expectations.
Today's sales bring to 3,000 the number of copies sold since the report was released. The Office of Public Works, which is overseeing the distribution of the report, is printing a further 7,000.
Hundreds of orders have also been taken by the office's mail order service. Many of these are coming from book shops, which have also been inundated with demands for the report.
The subject matter, dealing with corruption in the land rezoning process, and the price of only €1 have contributed to the instant demand.
The report distills five years of hearing and more than 35,000 pages of documents into a 402-age report.
