A foetus was found in a Dublin Bed and Breakfast this afternoon, it has been revealed.

A foetus was found in a Dublin Bed and Breakfast this afternoon, it has been revealed.

Gardaí this evening have issued an appeal for the mother to come forward after the discovery at a Bed and Breakfast on Lower Gardiner Street in the city centre.

A Garda spokesman appealed for the mother to contact them or to seek medical assistance from any source.

"The mother's well being is our sole priority and we are anxious that she receive medical assistance.

"Any contact made by the mother or any information received will be dealt with, with the utmost of sensitivity," the spokesman said.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis has already conducted a post mortem and gardai believe the women had a miscarriage.

The spokesman said: "We are satisfied that this was a natural miscarriage and there is no criminal aspect to this investigation whatsoever." Detectives believe the woman concerned miscarried sometime between noon yesterday and noon today.
