Eight food businesses were closed down by the Food Safety Authority in March for breaches of food safety legislation.
Two supermarkets - Kellys Grocery in Chapelizod, Dublin 20, and Spar Supermarket, Williamstown, Co Galway - were served with closure orders.
Five closure orders were served on food stalls in Donegal town operated by Mr Freddy Andre Cochepin, Mr Bruno Montane, Ms Brigitte Fagnan, Mr Michael Meunier and Mr Philippe Henri Legrand.
Sea-fishery officers in the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources served a closure order on Cage No 1A, Dinish, in the Muirachmhainni Teo fish farm, Tairgeoiri Bradain, Co Galway.
Closure orders are issued when it is deemed, upon inspection, that there is, or is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health.
Mr Peter Whelan, Director of Service Contracts at the FSAI, said: "Enforcement officers only resort to using these powers when standards have fallen very low.
"We are not out to persecute food operators, but they would be wise to take heed that enforcement powers will be used and premises named, if they do not operate to the required legal standard," he said.
