The Ballymcguigan, Co. Derry man is famous for guiding the county to their only All-Ireland senior football title in 1993 before being controversially sacked the following year.

However, he returned to the helm to succeed Brian Mullins in 1999 and won a league title the next season. As a player Coleman won an All-Ireland minor medal in 1965 and was an under-21 title winner in 1968.
