London - A former British Labour Party chairman and veteran trade unionist, Mr Alex Kitson, has died from cancer at the age of 75, friends said yesterday.
Mr Kitson, who died on Saturday in hospital in Edinburgh, was one of Britain's top trade unionists, who served as deputy general secretary of the transport workers union until his retirement in 1986.
He was also chairman of the Labour Party in 1980 - when his left-wing views earned him the nickname "Radio Moscow" from political enemies. - (PA)
