The former Papal Nuncio to Ireland, Archbishop Gaetano Alibrandi, has died aged 89.
Archbishop Alibrandi was born on the January 14thk, 1914 in Sicily. He served as Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon from 1964 to 1969 prior to his appointment to Ireland in 1969 where he served until 1989.
He died in his home town in Sicily yesterday. A memorial Mass for Archbishop Alibrandi will be celebrated by Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, Papal Nuncio to Ireland, on Friday, July 11th at 7.30 p.m. in the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, Navan Road, Dublin 7.
