The former RTE broadcaster, Ms Treasa Davison, has been honoured by the Defence Forces for more than two decades of work with overseas troops.
She was presented with the award at a ceremony in Dublin's McKee Barracks yesterday, at which the Chief-of-Staff of the Defence Forces, Lieut Gen Gerry McMahon, praised her "long and dedicated association" with overseas units.
Ms Davison's work with troops abroad began with her overseas requests radio programme. She started special Defence Forces broadcasts when the Army was in Cyprus and has recorded 12 specials from Lebanon in the 20year history of Irish peacekeeping missions there.
