Morris tribunal:A former Garda superintendent dismissed from his post after the Morris tribunal found he acted corruptly has labelled Garda Headquarters a "junta" for its failure to give him legal representation.
Kevin Lennon is giving evidence about his time as superintendent in the Letterkenny district in Co Donegal from 1997, during which publican Frank McBrearty snr claims he was the target of Garda harassment.
"I was subjected to 48 false allegations of a most serious nature taken down by the Garda and not investigated, improperly investigated, and put in the public domain and written in the papers denigrating my family," he said.
Mr Lennon said "members of the Garda went up the Court of Appeal and withheld evidence and allowed facts to go before that honourable court that they knew in their heart and soul were untrue and had no reality". He was harassed by the Garda, who told him before the tribunal began he would not be given legal representation, making a finding of fact against him "like a junta system".
