Four men were charged yesterday with falsely imprisoning five prison officers during the siege at Mountjoy Prison, Dublin, last January.
The accused are Warren Dumbrell (23) of O'Devenney Gardens, Dublin; Eamonn Seery (32) of Coultry Rd, Ballymun; Stephen Galvin ( 24) of Kilmore Rd, Knocknaheeny, Cork City; and Joseph Cooper (25) of Mountainview Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin.
They appeared separately in Dublin District Court charged with falsely imprisoning the officers on January 4th last.
Det Insp Hubert Collins told the court that Dumbrell replied "not guilty" while the others had nothing to say when charged. Each of the defendants, who appeared before Judge Murrough Connellan handcuffed to prison officers, was remanded in custody to Portlaoise Prison and will appear again in the District Court next Friday.
