Saturday will be mainly dry at first but rain will arrive in western counties during the morning, soon becoming persistent and locally heavy.
The rain will extend steadily eastwards, becoming heavy in places further east by the end of the day. Winds backing south to south-east will increase to very strong and gusty everywhere. It will be mild.
On Sunday, there will be further spells of heavy rain over the eastern half of the country early in the day, but becoming mainly dry from the west as the day goes on.
Strong southerly winds will gradually moderate and veer southwest, remaining mild.
On Monday, rain coming into the south-west early in the day will extend gradually north-east, but much of Ulster and north Leinster will probably stay dry. However, southern counties will be likely to experience heavy rainfall yet again.
Light to moderate, southerly winds will back south-east and strengthen generally, staying relatively mild.
For Tuesday, the north and north-east may stay mainly dry but there will be a tendency for rain to become more widespread. It is likely to remain too windy for significant frost.
