At least four people were killed and about 50 were injured when five carriages of an inter-city train jumped of the tracks in southeastern Bangladesh today, officials said.
A railway spokesman said the Probhati Express, which was travelling from the port city of Chittagong with more than 600 passengers on board, derailed at Baratakai, 280 km (175 miles) short of the capital, Dhaka,
Most of the dead and injured had been travelling on the roof of the train, which was packed with passengers heading home for the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday.
