Four police officers were injured after a crowd of

around 60 people went on the rampage in Belfast city centre early this morning.

Police were called to the scene in the Sandy Row area shortly after 2 a.m. as a crowd of around 60 people set two cars and a shop front alight.

The crowd threw stones at the police, injuring four of them. One police officer is still being treated in hospital.

Six people were arrested on public order offences after the incident.

Calm was restored to the area within an hour.
