A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in a slurry pit in Co Cork on Thursday afternoon.
Last night gardaí arrested three women with ages ranginge from the mid-20s to mid-40s in Dublin city centre. Later gardaí detained a man who is believed to be helping them with their inquiries.
Two of the women have been brought to Bandon Garda station and the other to Clonakilty where they are being held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Garda discovered the victim's body in the slurry pit on a farm in Shanlaragh, near Dunmanway, Co Cork following a tip-off.
The threat of dangerous gases from the waste pit held up Garda efforts to remove the remains.
Last night, Gardaí said they are so far unable to say when the man died but they believe it may have been in the past two weeks.
The victim is believed to be a 37-year-old man from Britain, although he is yet to be formally identified. He is reported to have been living at a New Age traveller settlement at nearby Coole Mountain.
Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster carried out a preliminary post mortem examination on the remains at Cork University Hospital this evening.
Investigating officers also sealed off a public telephone kiosk in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, about 120 kilometres away from Shanlaragh, in connection with the inquiry.
The kiosk and the immediate area surrounding it was examined this afternoon by Garda technical experts who took fingerprints.
The Garda Technical Bureau, Garda Water Unit, Civil Defence and local officers have all been involved in the ongoing investigation.
