The British government must intervene to end the "nightmare" of the extradition proceedings against Ms Roisin McAliskey, her supporters said yesterday.
Members of the political prisoners campaign group Fuascailt and the Britain and Irish Rights Watch handed in letters of protest to the Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, and the Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, at the Home Office last night urging the government to order Ms McAliskey's unconditional release.
Ms McAliskey was arrested a year ago and is being held on at the Maudsley Psychiatric Hospital in London with her six-month-old daughter. She is facing extradition to Germany in connection an IRA mortar attack on a British army base.
