Freetown - Nigerian intervention troops continued to fight rebels for control of the Sierra Leone capital, Freetown, yesterday, as the west African state's President said a ceasefire had been agreed.
Former soldiers and rebels of the Revolutionary United Front - who shared power with the military for nine months after a May 1997 coup - on Wednesday entered Freetown, battling with the intervention force, ECOMOG, which had ousted them from power last February.
