Paris - Four French people kidnapped more than three months ago in the Russian republic of Dagestan have been released, the French Foreign Ministry said yesterday.
"They are free and safe and sound and have just been put in the care of our embassy in Moscow," a ministry spokeswoman told a news briefing. The four, three members of the French humanitarian aid group Equilibre and a friend, were kidnapped on August 3rd.
They had been staying in Dagestan, a tiny Caucasus republic in the south-east corner of the Russian Federation, for several months aiding refugees from Chechnya.
