Paris - Angry scenes looked likely to ensue at French border posts as lorry-owners started to block border roads early this morning in protest at government plans to cut working hours for truck drivers. Road blocks on the Franco-Belgian border were set up early today. France's four main employers' federations have said they will prevent all commercial traffic from passing. The action is expected to badly disrupt cross-Channel traffic, particularly at the French port of Calais. Roadblocks will also be set up at western ports in Brittany and Normandy, and on the main link from Belgium in the north. The action will be heavily supported and could get worse, the federations promise.
