French industrial output fell more sharply than expected in September, and the trade deficit widened, data today showed.
Industrial production fell 1.1 per cent from the previous month, national statistics office INSEE said. That compared with expectations for a 0.5 per cent decline, according to a consensus forecast from economists polled by Reuters.
The August figure was revised down to show a flat figure rather than the previously reported 0.3 per cent rise.
The September trade deficit came in at €3.083 billion, compared with expectations for a deficit of €3.0 billion.
