THE BODY of Stephen Lyne (17), found stabbed to death in Killarney, Co Kerry, last week, has been removed to St Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney. His funeral Mass will take place this morning.
Stephen, who died after being stabbed on his way home, may have been targeted by someone who knew him to be going home, gardaí suspect. He was found unconscious on a grass margin at Ross Road just yards from his house at 1.30am on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A senior garda has appealed to residents of Ross Road to carry out a search of their front gardens and pathways. A number of items have been sent to the Garda forensic laboratory for examination.
Gardaí have interviewed dozens of young people, CCTV footage is being examined and house-to-house calls have been taking place. There has been a huge response to Garda appeals for information.
