Taoiseach Brian Cowen led the mourners today at the funeral in Dublin of former attorney general Rory Brady.
Representatives of the legal and political worlds, friends and neighbours, gathered in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook, for the concelebrated funeral Mass. The chief celebrant was parish priest Fr Martin Clarke.
Mr Brady was later buried in Mount Jerome cemetery.
Attorney General Paul Gallagher said that Mr Brady had never been taken in by success. He was "a proud Synge street boy, and first, last and always, a Dub''.
He paid tribute to Mr Brady as a lawyer and family man, adding that "the instinct of warmth and decency was intrinsic to his life''.
The chief mourners were his wife, Siobhan, and daughters Aoife and Maeve.
President Mary McAleese was represented by her aide-de-camp Capt Martin Larkin and secretary general to the President Adrian O'Neill.
Also present were former Taoisigh Bertie Ahern and Albert Reynolds, Chief Justice Mr Justice John Murray, and editor of The Irish Times Geraldine Kennedy.
