The proposals, aimed at cleaning up the game following the ugly scenes that led to the suspension of the series, will go before both the GAA and AFL for approval in the coming weeks.

Under the new guidelines, a disciplinary tribunal will be established with overall authority for ruling on issues of foul play while a video official is also due be appointed..

In a statement released this afternoon the GAA said it hoped the new measures would ensure the games "are played in a spirit of mutual respect and that there is always due regard for the principles of Fair Play" and would act as means of  "curbing the excesses which have besmirched the Test series in 2005 and 2006."
