OASIS singer Liam Gallagher left London yesterday for the United States, where he will rejoin the band, after his last minute decision not to fly to Chicago with brother Noel on Monday.

Liam (23), travelled to Chicago without fiancee Patsy Kensit, who last night denied she had told Liam, to stay in Britain while the rest of the group left for the US tour. Ms Kensit was due to join the band's 14 date American tour later.

In a statement issued through her solicitors, Ms Kensit said: "In the light of the present coverage, our client wishes to make it clear that she did not instruct or in any way seek to persuade Liam Gallagher to withdraw from travelling to America with Oasis.

"Ms Kensit trusts that future reports concerning her will be more considered and meanwhile is fully reserving her position as to the published allegations in this week's media."

The laryngitis which stopped Liam singing in London last Friday and in Chicago on Tuesday has cleared up and he will return to fronting the band for the next date in Michigan tonight.

Despite the brothers' famously volatile relationship, Liam seemed confident he would be welcomed with open arms after they had telephone chats. Leaving Ms Kensit's north London home, he said: "Me and Noel are all right. We have had chats and that. He can't wait to see me."

But Liam cast a shadow over the band's reliability when he walked out at the start of the American tour just 15 minutes before the plane was due to take off from London.

Liam's anger at media reporting was clear as he arrived at Heathrow to board his plane. "I hate you f...ing lot, yet you're always asking me too many things. I'm not a supermodel you know," he said.

Earlier he told GMTV: "It's not petulant. To tell you the truth thousands of fans can wait. I wasn't happy, I didn't have anywhere to live.

"I just had to come back and do a bit of packing like you do when you have got a house and you have got to move."
