GAA:Paul Galvin will not contest the eight-week ban proposed by the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), the Kerry county board confirmed this afternoon. The latest sanction handed out to the star forward will keep him out of action until the All-Ireland semi-finals.

Speaking today, Kerry county board chairman Jerome Conway said Galvin will not seek a personal hearing at the Central Hearings Committee and has decided to take the punishment “like a man”.

The CCCC recommended the two-month suspension after Galvin was caught on camera sticking his fingers in the mouth of Eoin Cadogan and “fish-hooking” him during the Munster football semi-final on Monday.

The latest high-profile indiscretion will cost Galvin a place in the Munster final against Limerick and a likely All-Ireland quarter-final on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Should they make it that far, Galvin will become available for selection for the All-Ireland semi-finals later that month.
