Galway City is facing a housing crisis, with close on 2,000 people caught in an accommodation trap as demand massively outstrips supply, it was stated this week.
The latest official figures from the Department of the Environment, for the third quarter of last year, indicate a waiting list for local authority houses of almost 750 families and individuals.
"There are a lot of people in this city living on the edge in terms of housing accommodation", said Ms Elaine Harvey, of the Galway Centre for the Unemployed.
