The Union for Europe group in the EP held its September meeting in Galway, based in the Ardilaun House hotel. Fianna Fail, with local MEP Mark Killilea to the fore, were hosting their French, Italian, Greek, Dutch and Portuguese colleagues. One of the main objects of the schedule was to impress on Continental MEPs the continuing needs for development in the west of Ireland. There was a particular emphasis on vocational training, and the impact of EU investment in this area.
