Jim Gannon is the notable absentee from Dermot Keely’s Shelbourne starting line-up to face Brondby in tonight’s UEFA Cup qualifying clash which gets under way at 7.30 p.m. in Copenhagen.

The team announcement was delayed in the hope that the new club captain would be fit in time, but Gannon lost his battle with an ongoing hamstring injury and will now be replaced by Peter Hutton, who will slot in at centre-half alongside Tony McCarthy.

Yesterday Keely had said: "In training he [Gannon] didn’t look comfortable, and if he’s not comfortable tomorrow then he won’t play".

Elsewhere, Jonathan Minnock and Brian Byrne make their competitive debuts while Richie Foran and Dessie Baker are confirmed as the front men to lead Shels’s European charge.
