A garda was remanded on bail today after he pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of a store in Carrigaline, Co Cork and to possession of an imitation firearm.
Mario Boersma (38) of Rosebay Drive, Forest Hill, Carrigaline, Co Cork today pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of Kilmoney Stores, Carrigaline, on March 27th. He also pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm on the same date.
Mr Boersma is stationed in Celbridge, Co Kildare. He has been on health leave over recent months and has been living recently in Carrigaline.
Cork Circuit Criminal Court was told he had a long history of alcohol dependency.
Barrister Donal O’Sullivan, who represented Mr Boersma in court applied for an adjournment to allow for his client’s continued treatment for his addiction.
Judge Patrick J Moran agreed to adjourn the case until November 30th next.
He also agreed to an alteration of the signing on conditions and Mr Boersma’s nightly curfew has been changed from 10pm to midnight. The case previously came before Cork District Court earlier this year and was sent forward to Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
