A Garda syndicate in the West of Ireland has won over £1 million in the midweek Lotto draw.
The group of 12 gardai, based in Tuam, Co Galway, held one of two winning tickets for Wednesday night's draw for the £2,095,496 jackpot. The second ticket was sold in Dublin.
The group, which consists of three retired gardai and nine current members of the force, plays the Lotto regularly. Each garda will receive over £80,000.
Superintendent Pat Forde of the Tuam gardai congratulated his staff on their big win but said that, unfortunately, he was not a member of the syndicate.
