Gardai have identified the woman whose remains were found in the Phoenix Park last week as a 50-year-old mother of two adult children from Romania.
The woman, who was found in the park with multiple stab wounds on August 5th by two passers-by, came from near the city of Timisoara in the west of the country.
She had been living in Ireland for a number of years and had left her family behind in Romania.
She was homeless and had lost touch with people she initially met in Ireland.
A liaison with the Romanian community in Ireland contacted Interpol earlier this week after identifying her from photographs released earlier this week.
Interpol contacted a family in Romania on Thursday and DNA samples from the family were sent to the Garda Forensic Science Laboratory in the Phoenix Park yesterday for analysis.
A positive idenfication was confirmed this evening.
