DUBLIN BUS and gardaí are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a bus in south Dublin early yesterday.
The 51-year-old man was crossing the N11 at Cornelscourt shortly after 1am when he was knocked down by the vehicle.
The staff bus was taking Dublin Bus drivers home after they had completed their late-night shifts.
The man was taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2am.
The driver was taken to St Colmcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown and was treated for shock. He was later discharged.
A Garda spokesman said they had examined the scene of the collision and gardaí at Cabinteely were carrying out an investigation into the incident.
A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus said the company had sent an accident investigation team to the scene shortly after the collision to carry out an investigation.
