Gardaí have not identified a motive for s shooting incident in Cork city this morning which wounded a courier in the leg this morning.
Supt Con Cadagon, of Anglesea St Garda Station in Cork said an attempted robbery was one of the possible motives being explored.
The man, who is in his thirties, was making deliveries on Lee Road at about 6.30 a.m. when his van was blocked by two vehicles at Inchagaggan Bridge.
A gang of up to three men then forced the victim to drive his van in convoy with the two cars to a nearby field. He was then shot in his right leg.
Supt Cadagon said it has yet been established if anything was taken from the red delivery van driven by the victim.
He added that it was too early to know if this morning’s shooting was linked to another shooting in the city.
Last Friday a 19-year-old man received gun shot wounds to the upper thigh in the Blackpool area.
Supt Cadagon asked anyone with information on today's incident to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on: 021 4395540.
