Gardaí investigating a series of ATM robberies in the Dublin have arrested eight people in the last 48 hours, it emerged this evening.
The five men and three women all from the north Dublin area were detained at several Garda stations around the city.
Up to 25 gardai from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Criminal Assets Bureau and the Emergency Response Unit have been actively targeting gangs engaged in 'cash in transit' robberies in the Dublin area.
Five people remain in custody and files will be submitted to the DPP in relation to the three who have been released.
