Gardai have started a murder inquiry into the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
Mr Declan Gavin, of Mourne Road in Drimnagh, was standing at a bus-stop near Crimlin Shopping Centre at 3.30 a.m. when a silver Nissan Micra pulled up. A passenger in the car stabbed the victim after a brief confrontation and the car then fled the scene.
Mr Gavin made his way into an Abrakebabra fast-food restaurant nearly. He was later taken to St James’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5.30 a.m.
Gardaí have appealed for information and want to question three men who were seen in the area in a silver Nissan Micra.
State pathologist Dr John Harbison carried out a post mortem this afternoon which revealed Mr Gavin he died from a single stab wound to the chest.
