Garda∅ in Donegal are investigating the theft of more than £100,000-worth of diesel from filling stations in the county, after a sophisticated cross-Border fraud was uncovered.
Using fuel cards obtained with false company names and bank accounts, the fraud ring is believed to have taken diesel from fuel vending machines along the Donegal border and sold it in the North.
The cards, which are offered by several large fuel companies, work in a similar way to credit cards.
