The Garda Siochana has declared an 'open day' for tomorrow's International Day Against Racism, inviting members of ethnic and racial minorities to visit their local Garda station.
A Garda spokeswoman said anyone wishing to visit a station in their area should contact the local Garda Ethnic Liaison Officer to make arrangements.
Tomorrow, March 21st, has been designated International Day Against Racism. European Week Against Racism takes place from today until March 28th.
The National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI), along with the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and the Know Racism Campaign is organising a number of activities to celebrate the events.
This year's theme focuses on the full participation of minority ethnic groups in broader society, according to the NCCRI.
"The theme of participation emphasises that minority ethnic groups are a part of Ireland, a part of local communities, a part of the electorate, and part of what will soon be an expanded European Union. Participation was identified as one of the five key objectives that should underpin the National Action Plan Against Racism, due to be published in 2004."
