GARDAI believe they have made good progress in their investigation of the killing of Mr Franco Sacco in Dublin on Thursday, after questioning a teenage girl yesterday. The 15-year-old, who voluntarily arrived at Rathfarnham Garda station after the shooting, has helped investigating officers to establish the circumstances of the shooting.
Mr Sacco (29), suffered a single shotgun blast to the head in the bedroom of his home in Templeogue. He was shot with his own legally-held shotgun.
The teenage girl is staying with relatives in the area and gardai stressed she had not been in custody. The dead man's wife was being comforted by relatives.
Mr Sacco ran Luigi's fast food restaurant at Rathfarnham and was well known in the area. He lived with his wife Anne Marie at Coolamber Park in Templeogue. They had moved into the house in recent weeks.
The girl arrived at the Garda station at about 7.30 p.m. on Thursday night and gardai went immediately to the house where they found Mr Sacco's body in a bedroom. After a preliminary examination at the scene by the State pathologist, Dr John Harbison, the body was removed to Loughlinstown Hospital early yesterday where a post-mortem examination was carried out.
Investigating officers were yesterday preparing to seek advice on the case from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
