Gardaí name victim of Cork city crash

The young woman who was killed on the outskirts of Cork City last night has been named by the Gardaí

The young woman who was killed on the outskirts of Cork City last night has been named by the Gardaí. She was 18-year-old Gemma Savage of Upper East Hill, Cobh, Co Cork.

Ms Savage was hit by a car while walking along the road at Courtstown, Little Island at around 10 p.m.

In Co Galway a 26-year-old man died in a suspected hit-and-run during the night.

The man was discovered lying on the side of the road at Moyvilla, Oranmore.

He was taken to University College Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who was in that area at around 4 a.m. this morning to contact them.
