A fifth man has been arrested today in connection with the attempted escape of Cork prisoner Adrian Duke.
Gardaí last night recaptured Duke, who on Thursday was freed by an armed gang which held up a van transferring him from a court appearance back to jail.
Duke, 29, who had been awaiting trial on armed robbery charges, was detained at a house in Waterford.

Duke escaped from custody following the ambush of the Toyota Hiace minibus transferring him from Waterford District Court to Cork prison by a gang of men. They rammed the minibus just outside Holycross, about four miles from Waterford city, and smashed the windows with hammers.
None of occupants of the van - three prison officers, another prisoner and the civilian driver - were injured.
The red Opel Vectra used by the gang was later found abandoned at Ballybeg.
Duke is facing a number of serious charges, including armed robbery, and was serving a one month sentence at the time of his escape.
