Gardaí have released a woman they were questioning over the shooting dead of a father-of-two in Co Cork on Monday.
The killing of Charlie Wrench (42) was upgraded to a murder inquiry today, and the woman's period of detention had been extended late on Tuesday night.
A file is being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mr Wrench was found shot dead in the bedroom of the house at Dromiscane, Millstreet, on Monday night. He lived at the remote cottage for the past 18 years.
The woman, who was being held, was arrested at the scene and was being questioned at Kanturk Garda station.
Mr Wrench had two girls aged nine and five, and his partner had two children from a previous relationship, aged 11 and 19. It is believed the three younger girls were playing outside the house at the time of the shooting.
Mr Wrench was shot by his own legally, held single-barrel shotgun. The gun was taken away for investigation.
