Gardai in Dun Laoghaire have renewed their appeal for help in the investigation into the murder of 17-year-old Raonaid Murray, two years after her death.
Some 8,500 people have been interviewed by gardai, who have taken almost 3,000 statements since Ms Murray was fatally stabbed on September 4th, 1999, in Glenageary.
A reward of £150,000 has been offered for information in the case.
Ms Murray's family has appealed to gardai to "redouble their efforts" to catch the killer. The fact that the murderer was still free was "an appalling situation and a shame on us (her family), on the gardai and on the whole community", a statement from the family said.
Gardai would like to speak to anyone who may have information about Ms Murray's whereabouts between 11.20 p.m., when she left Scott's public house in Dun Laoghaire, and 12.30 a.m., when her body was discovered, or anyone who may have seen her on her way home from Scott's public house to Silchester Crescent.
It is believed Ms Murray was murdered in a laneway between Silchester Road and Silchester Park, not far from her home.
Gardai would like to speak to anyone who may have given her a lift or walked with her between the pub and Silchester Crescent. They also want to question anyone who may have seen a struggle or heard voices or noticed anything suspicious in the area of Silchester Crescent and Silchester Road at about 12.10 a.m. on September 4th.
They want to locate a man who was seen arguing with Ms Murray in Corrig Avenue at 11.50 p.m. He was described as being aged 25 years, 5 feet 10 inches tall, of slim build, and wearing combat trousers and a sweatshirt, with an "Oasis-style" haircut.
Gardai are anxious to speak to a young man seen walking ahead of Ms Murray in Glenageary Road at 12.02 a.m., as well as four young men who were walking some way behind her near the junction of Eden Road and Glenageary Road.
They want to identify a young man seen running from Silchester Crescent, at 12.10 a.m. He was described as being aged 20, 5 feet 10 inches tall and neatly dressed, with short curly hair.
Information can be given to the gardai in Dun Laoghaire at 01-6665012 or 01-6665054.
